# Shopify commerce connection

Connect Shopify so INSIDE can show store products and authorised customer and order information.

*Release 3.3 · admin, developer, operator, visitor*

**Settings › Commerce › Commerce Providers**

## What it is

**Shopify** lets INSIDE read products, customers and orders from your connected store. Operators can use the information while assisting shoppers, and visitors can receive product cards or verified order information. Each capability depends on the permissions granted by Shopify.

## Who uses it and why

Administrators with **Settings** or **Developer** connect the store and choose its operations. Operators search products and inspect customer or order records. Visitors choose products and access only the private records they are authorised to see.

## Where to find it

Open **Settings › Commerce › Commerce Providers** and choose **Shopify** as **Provider type**. Operators use **Products** and the visitor's **CRM** tab when these are configured.

## How it works

INSIDE validates the connection against the permanent shop domain and reads the store permissions. Product, customer and order access are checked separately. Order lists need both customer and order read access; individual order lookup needs order read access.

Product results include the store's product choices and availability. INSIDE can retrieve further variants when a visitor opens product options. Shopify's technical default option is not shown as a shopper choice.

Customer matching uses exact identifiers and rejects ambiguous results. Order information can include lines, fulfilment, tracking, refunds and returns, where the connection permits them.

## Configure it

With **Settings** and the relevant **AI** access, or **Developer**, create a Shopify provider. Enter **Shop domain**, optionally enter **Storefront domain**, and supply **Admin API access token** for manual setup.

Choose the required operations under **Use for**, set **Availability**, save and use **test**. Enable product panel replacement separately if operators should browse this store in **Products**.

Configure **Customer and order access** separately for visitors. Shopify supports order-detail matching and supported store sign-in integrations. Catalogue credentials alone do not prove a shopper's identity.

### Fields

| Field | Where | Required | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shop domain | Settings › Commerce › Commerce Providers | Yes | Identifies the store by its permanent Shopify shop domain, rather than its public storefront address. |
| Storefront domain | Settings › Commerce › Commerce Providers | No | Supplies the public storefront domain for customer-facing product links. |
| Admin API access token | Settings › Commerce › Commerce Providers | No | Supplies credentials for manual connection. App installation can supply the connection instead. |

### Permissions

| Permission | Lets you |
|---|---|
| Settings | Configure Shopify through Commerce Providers, subject to AI access and View Only. |
| AI | Allows commerce administration for a restricted Settings role. |
| Developer | Configure the Shopify commerce provider. |

## Limits and good to know

- Product searches return up to 50 products per page. The operator panel requests 20 at a time.
- Shopify order lists return at most 25 orders per request.
- Without Shopify's permission for all orders, order search reports a 60-day history restriction.
- Returns are omitted when the connection lacks returns read access.
- Products requiring a selling plan use their product page for purchase instead of a native basket action.
- Available-to-sell information takes priority over a zero inventory count when deciding availability.

## FAQ and troubleshooting

### Why is the public store address rejected?

**Shop domain** needs the permanent Shopify shop domain. Enter the public shopping domain in **Storefront domain** instead.

### Why do products work but customers or orders do not?

Check **Use for** and run **test**. The Shopify connection also needs the corresponding customer and order permissions.

### Why are older orders missing?

Check whether Shopify has granted access to all orders. Without it, order search is restricted to recent history.

### Why are returns missing from an order?

The connection needs returns read access. Other order details can remain available without it.

### Why does a product open the store instead of adding to the basket?

Products requiring a selling plan use the store page. Other products also need a supported basket integration and complete, available variant information.
