# Product search and filters

Find products in the connected catalogue using search terms and the filters your store supports.

*Release 3.3 · operator, visitor*

**Products** · **Settings › Commerce › Commerce Providers**

## What it is

Product search finds items in the connected store's catalogue. Filters narrow the results using choices the store supports, such as category, price or product options. The available choices depend on your website's provider and configuration.

## Who uses it and why

Operators search **Products** to find suitable items for a conversation. Visitors can ask a configured AI assistant to find products and receive product cards. Administrators with **Settings** or **Developer** choose which filters operators can use.

## Where to find it

Open **Products** in the operator interface. A configured commerce panel shows **Search commerce products** and, when available, **Filter**. Visitors use the configured shopping assistant in their conversation.

## How it works

Enter search terms, apply supported filters, or combine both. The search uses the current website and subsite's selected provider. In the operator panel, selecting a filter adds a control for its values. Choices can appear as lists, colour swatches, grids, ranges or yes/no choices.

Results update after you change the query or selected values. Where supplied, counts beside filter choices reflect the store's results. Further result pages load as you scroll.

Use an active filter's remove control to remove it, or **Clear all filters** to remove all panel filters. **Clear product search** clears the text query. You need search terms or an active filter value to retrieve products.

## Configure it

Your **Settings** or **Developer** administrator configures this under **Settings › Commerce › Commerce Providers**. The provider needs **Product search**. For the operator commerce panel, enable **Replace the standard Products panel**.

To show filters, enable **Product facets** and select **Product filters**. Leaving the filter selection empty gives a search-only panel. AI product search also needs the corresponding capabilities enabled in its Commerce function.

## Limits and good to know

- General commerce product search defaults to 10 results and supports requests up to 50. The operator panel loads 20 at a time, with a maximum of 25 per request.
- The operator panel can expose up to 50 selected filters. Providers can offer fewer.
- Supported filters differ between stores. A filter available for one provider may not work for another.
- A range's minimum cannot exceed its maximum.
- Search results are catalogue summaries. Complete option and availability checks can happen when a product card loads its details.

## FAQ and troubleshooting

### Why is there no Filter button?

Your provider may not support **Product facets**, the operation may be disabled, or **Product filters** may be empty. Ask your **Settings** or **Developer** administrator to check.

### Why do I get no results before typing?

The commerce panel waits for search terms or an active filter value. It does not automatically list the entire catalogue.

### Why did a price filter fail?

Check the minimum and maximum. If the minimum is larger, the panel shows **Minimum cannot exceed maximum.**

### Why did search change when I selected another visitor?

The current visitor's subsite can select a different catalogue provider. Your subsite access also applies.

### Why can I see a product but not purchase its options?

Search results may not contain complete variants. Open the product card's options or follow its product link to retrieve the current choices.
