# Operator notification sounds

Choose which events you hear, select their sounds and adjust notification volume for the current website.

*Release 3.3 · operator*

**Settings › Account › Setup Sounds**

## What it is

**Configure Sounds** controls the audible alerts you hear while working in INSIDE. You can enable events, preview or change their sounds and adjust volume. Preferences are saved for your operator account on the current website.

## Who uses it and why

Operators use sounds to notice incoming work, visitor replies, sales or inactivity warnings without watching every part of the floor.

## Where to find it

With **Chat**, **Manager** or **Settings**, open **Settings › Account › Setup Sounds**. The screen is headed **Configure Sounds**.

## How it works

1. Turn on **Enable Sounds**.
2. Select the events you want to hear. **Visitor reply** and **Team Chat Alert - On Each Message** start off; the other listed event categories start on before saved preferences are applied.
3. Use **Listen to audio** beside an event to preview it. Use **Edit** to open **Edit Sound**, choose a **Sound File**, then select **Save**.
4. Adjust the volume slider between the speaker icons. Its initial volume is 75 per cent.
5. Select **Save** on **Configure Sounds** to save your preferences.

**New Visitor - Up to** limits entry sounds during busier periods. Its initial limit is four visitors. **Team Chat Alert - On Each Message** removes the ordinary cooldown for Team Chat sounds.

Browsers can block audio until you interact with INSIDE. If INSIDE reports that it could not play a sound, click the notification's confirmation button and try a preview again.

## Configure it

Change your own preferences in **Setup Sounds**. Switch to each website before setting its sound preferences; a sound choice saved for one website does not define all your websites.

Use **Default** in the sound editor to return an event to its supplied sound. Visual notifications and desktop notification permission are configured separately.

## Limits and good to know

- Ordinary notification sounds are suppressed during a connected voice call so they do not mix into the call audio. A deliberate preview can still play.
- Event alerts can repeat while an incoming offer is awaiting action.
- An enabled sound still depends on browser permission, device volume and the event's own conditions.
- The new-visitor limit affects entry sounds, not how many visitors the website accepts.
- Turning on **Operator Service Level Timer** does not itself enable the visual countdown or change the target.

## FAQ and troubleshooting

### Why are there no sounds even though Enable Sounds is on?

Interact with INSIDE, try **Listen to audio**, and check browser and device volume. Ordinary sounds are also suppressed during a connected voice call.

### Why do I hear new visitors only when the floor is quiet?

Check **New Visitor - Up to**. Entry sounds stop when the visitor count exceeds that limit.

### Why are visitor replies silent?

**Visitor reply** starts off. Enable it and save your sound preferences.

### How can I hear every Team Chat message?

Enable **Team Chat Alert - On Each Message** and select **Save**. This removes the ordinary sound cooldown for that alert.

### Why are my sounds different on another website?

INSIDE saves sound preferences separately for each website on your operator account.
