# Remote camera registration and access

Register a remote camera with its activation code and choose which teams, subsites and secondary cameras can use it.

*Release 3.3 · admin, operator*

**Settings › General Settings › Remote Cameras**

## What it is

**Remote Cameras** registers devices that operators can invite into browser calls. Pairing uses an activation code from the **INSIDE Remote Camera App**. Each camera has a name, availability state and call-handling options.

## Who uses it and why

- Administrators with **Settings** access register, edit and delete cameras.
- Operators recognise the named cameras and check whether they are ready for a call.
- The person using the camera device keeps it online and responds to call requests.

## Where to find it

Open **Settings › General Settings › Remote Cameras**. Access requires **Settings**, its **Remote Cameras** option and website video calling to be enabled.

## How it works

1. Open the **INSIDE Remote Camera App** and obtain its six-digit activation code.
2. In **Remote Cameras**, add a camera and enter **Camera Name** and **Activation Code** before the code expires.
3. Select any team, subsite and secondary-camera associations. Set the timeout, missed-call limit and answer delay.
4. Save the registration. The activation code is for initial pairing and is not an ongoing call code.
5. Bring the device online when it is available. Its state is offline, ready or busy. A pending call request reserves the device and makes it busy.

Edit the registration to change its options. Delete it when it should no longer be a registered camera.

## Configure it

The **Settings** role can manage this screen. Use the named team and subsite selections to support camera filtering in the workflows that use those filters.

The initial call timeout is 60 seconds, missed-call limit is 3 and answer delay is 5 seconds. Enable **Enable Screen Share (Desktop Camera Only)** only for the relevant desktop-camera setup. Select the specific secondary cameras you want associated with the device.

### Permissions

| Permission | Lets you |
|---|---|
| Settings | Access the Remote Cameras management screen when video calling is enabled. |
| Remote Cameras | The Settings permission option permits access to remote-camera administration. |

## Limits and good to know

- Activation codes expire after 15 minutes. Obtain a fresh code if pairing fails after that period.
- The saved timeout is limited to 15 to 180 seconds, the missed-call limit to 0 to 10 and the answer delay to 0 to 30 seconds.
- A missed-call limit of 0 does not disable missed-call handling. The first missed request takes the device offline.
- Going online from offline resets missed calls. Accepting or declining a request also resets the consecutive-miss count.
- A registered or online camera still needs a working connection to join a call.

## FAQ and troubleshooting

### Why is the activation code rejected?

Check the six digits shown in the app and obtain a new code if the original has expired or already been used.

### Why did the camera go offline?

Repeated unanswered requests can reach **Missed Call Limit**. Bring the camera online again when someone is ready to answer.

### Why can I not see Remote Cameras settings?

Check your **Settings** role and its **Remote Cameras** option. Ask Powerfront to check website video-call availability if those permissions are present.

### Can I change a camera's name without pairing again?

Yes. Edit the existing registration. **Activation Code** is needed when adding a new camera.
