KakaoTalk messaging conversations
Answer KakaoTalk customers in INSIDE while keeping track of their business messaging session.
What it is
Kakao Talk connects KakaoTalk business conversations to INSIDE. You can read supported customer messages and reply while INSIDE tracks the session opened with KakaoTalk. Session expiry is separate from ordinary message delivery.
Who uses it and why
- Operators answer customers, review attachments and handle conversations that open or expire on KakaoTalk.
- Administrators arrange the business connection, operating hours and response targets with Powerfront.
- Visitors request help and exchange messages through KakaoTalk.
Where to find it
Open a KakaoTalk conversation in INSIDE. Powerfront manages Kakao Talk under Settings › General Settings › Integrations.
How it works
KakaoTalk sends customer messages and notifications when a customer requests an agent or a session expires. INSIDE associates these with the correct account and conversation.
Text, links, images, video, audio and files can enter the transcript. Messages arriving before the agent request can wait until the session is ready. Supported button selections can answer automated questions.
You send replies from the conversation pane. Text, supported images and configured link buttons use KakaoTalk message formats. Other attachments use a message with a download link.
If KakaoTalk reports that no session is open, INSIDE can hold the outgoing reply for the session to become available. Expiry clears the session and queued actions. Ending the KakaoTalk chat and blocking the visitor also have remote account actions.
Configure it
Ask Powerfront to enter Kakao Talk Sender Key and Kakao Talk Account Id and give the account a unique Name. Kakao Talk Account Url is optional and links to the account page.
Powerfront can enable Is Sandbox for testing. It is off by default. Powerfront can also change Business Hours, Virtual Assistant, Post Chat Survey and Service Levels for the account.
The service-level controls use the website target or zero when an account target is missing. Opening an account with a stored zero also displays that fallback, so ask Powerfront to check the saved values when changing response targets.

Limits and good to know
- Direct image attachments must be JPEG, PNG or GIF and strictly smaller than 5,000,000 bytes. Other attachments use the link fallback.
- A reply waiting for an active session is not evidence of delivery to the customer.
- INSIDE retries temporary connection failures up to three times. This does not make every rejected reply retryable.
- Location requests, authentication requests, typing indicators and outgoing reactions are unsupported.

FAQ and troubleshooting
Why is my reply still waiting to send?
KakaoTalk may not have an active session for the customer. A reply can wait for the agent-request notification. Ask Powerfront to check the session connection if it does not resume.
Why did a queued reply disappear after the session ended?
Session expiry clears queued actions. Start from the current conversation state before sending another reply.
Why did an image become a link?
Check its format and size. Direct images must be JPEG, PNG or GIF and below the stated size boundary.
Why can't the account be saved?
Ask Powerfront to check the required sender key and account identity. Another KakaoTalk account cannot use the same sender key, account identity or name.
