What it is

The Visitor Popup action displays offers or information when a visitor event triggers. Popups can contain text, artwork, a framed page or a notification; the separate Survey action displays survey questions. You can place the content over the page or embed it in a website container.

Who uses it and why

Users with the Settings or Manager role configure the event and its popup action, subject to view-only restrictions. Visitors see the content when they meet the event conditions and can follow its link, open chat, answer a survey or close it.

Where to find it

Open Settings › Events › Visitor Events with the Settings or Manager role. Edit the event's popup or survey action to set its content and appearance. Editing may be restricted by view-only access.

How it works

  1. A visitor meets the event's trigger and conditions.
  2. INSIDE receives the configured action and renders the content at the chosen device position or in the specified website container.
  3. A popup can show a close control, a page cover or a countdown. A timed popup hides after its configured interval.
  4. Clicking can open chat, visit a link or run another configured action. Popup clicks are associated with the originating event.

Embedded content can be added to a container or replace its contents. Framed content has its own dimensions, scrolling and close-control placement.

Configure it

Create or edit a visitor event, then configure its targeting and popup action. Choose Style, supply the content and set Popup link where needed. Survey actions use Survey instead.

Choose Position (Desktop/Tablet) and Position (Mobile) separately. If you use Hide popup after, decide whether to enable Show Countdown. Set Close popup on click and Use window cover to suit the interaction.

For embedded offers, enable Use website container and provide Container id (optional) where needed. Coordinate the container with your website developer before selecting Replace container contents.

Limits and good to know

  • Placement controls affect presentation. Event conditions and schedules decide eligibility and timing.
  • A popup that opens chat can be limited using Only trigger if chat is available.
  • Replacing a container removes its existing contents from that displayed area.
  • A framed page must permit embedding and fit the configured dimensions. Its own scrolling may need to be enabled.
  • Check both mobile and desktop placement against the actual website layout.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Why does my popup never appear?

Check that the visitor meets the event trigger, conditions and schedule. If Only trigger if chat is available is enabled, check chat availability too.

Why is the embedded offer missing?

Check that the configured website container exists on that page and can be identified by the supplied value. Have your website developer check pages with different layouts.

Why does the popup disappear automatically?

Check Hide popup after. A click may also close it if Close popup on click is enabled.

Why does a linked page appear blank inside the popup?

The destination may prevent framing, or its dimensions and scrolling may be unsuitable. Check the framed page and popup settings with your website developer.
