Floor rendering and animation performance
Adjust floor rendering and animation preferences to suit your computer.
What it is
Render Mode and Limit FPS control how the console draws its floor and animations. You can reduce animation work on a slower computer or try hardware rendering. These options change presentation while the live connection continues to supply work updates.
Who uses it and why
Operators adjust these preferences when floor animation is slow, especially on shared or virtual desktops.
Where to find it
With the Settings role, open Settings › Account › My Account, then More Settings, for Render Mode, Limit FPS and Show 3D Avatars.
Stop rendering during chat is in the Powerfront-managed Settings › General Settings › Admin screen. Powerfront can change this for you.
How it works
Render Mode offers Default, Software and Hardware WebGL (BETA). Hardware rendering can improve performance on some computers; it depends on the device and browser.
Limit FPS offers Do not limit FPS, Low, Medium and High. In the desktop floor, the named levels set drawing limits of 1, 10 and 30 frames per second respectively. The actual rate can be lower. Do not limit FPS removes your explicit selection and leaves the floor's normal limits in place.
Low also prevents the operator's 3D avatar display. Show 3D Avatars only applies when the website is configured to provide them.
INSIDE also reduces drawing work when the browser tab is hidden or panels obscure the floor. In dark mode, it can turn off background blur for the browser session when that effect is too slow.
Configure it
Open More Settings, change one preference and choose Save. Compare the result on your computer before changing another option.
For persistent lag while chatting in a virtual desktop, ask Powerfront to change Stop rendering during chat for your website. It reduces drawing of the obscured floor.

Limits and good to know
- The setting limits animation drawing; it does not increase your permitted conversation capacity.
- An FPS limit is not a guaranteed frame rate.
- Hardware rendering is labelled BETA and may perform differently across computers.
- Mobile uses separate rendering controls and lower animation rates. These desktop values do not describe every mobile screen.
- Turning off decorative effects does not make an interrupted live connection current. Check connection messages separately.

FAQ and troubleshooting
Which setting should I try if animation is slow?
Try a lower Limit FPS value and compare responsiveness. You can also try Hardware WebGL (BETA) if your device supports it.
Why did 3D avatars disappear after selecting Low?
Low prevents operator 3D avatars to reduce animation work. Choose another limit and check Show 3D Avatars if you need them.
Why is the floor less animated behind an open panel?
The console can reduce or stop drawing the obscured floor. This is a display optimisation.
Why did background blur disappear in dark mode?
INSIDE can disable that effect for the browser session when its performance check finds it too slow.
