What it is

Release Updates / Help opens product updates and help inside the desktop console. A notification count can show that new content is available. The guided tour points out the main workspace controls.

Who uses it and why

  • Operators read product changes and use the tour to learn the desktop interface.
  • Supervisors use the same material when introducing colleagues to INSIDE.

Where to find it

Select Release Updates / Help in the top bar. In the older help layout, Take A Tour starts the console tour. The content and navigation inside the hosted updates panel depend on the help service.

How it works

  1. Select Release Updates / Help to open the panel.
  2. Browse the updates or help available there. The console can show a badge for new content and update that badge as the panel reports changes.
  3. Start the tour using the tour option when offered.
  4. Read each tip and select NEXT to continue. Select DONE on the last tip, or use the tip's close control to dismiss it.

The basic tour covers current site statistics, settings, availability, the floor, filters and your operator avatar. It skips controls that are not present or visible in your workspace.

INSIDE can offer a first-time tour according to your account's introduction preferences. An active proactive introduction can show introductory video content instead of the basic tour.

Configure it

You do not need to configure the help service to read updates or start an offered tour. INSIDE records personal tour progress so it can distinguish first-time use from later visits.

If hosted updates are not configured, INSIDE has an older help layout that loads categories and articles. Ask Powerfront to check the help service if the panel cannot load.

Limits and good to know

  • The basic guided tour is a desktop feature. It does not run in the mobile console.
  • Help articles and updates load from a separate service. Their availability can differ from the console's availability.
  • The tour closes open console menus before showing its tips.
  • A product version change does not guarantee that the basic tour will start again.
  • Enable News Alerts in Floor Settings controls floor news and statistics popups. Use Release Updates / Help for product help and release content.

FAQ and troubleshooting

Why is there a number on the help icon?

The updates service has reported new content. Open Release Updates / Help to review it.

Why is Take A Tour missing?

That label belongs to the older help layout. The hosted updates panel supplies its own navigation and can offer the tour there.

Why does the tour skip a control?

The tour skips controls that are hidden or unavailable in your current workspace.

Why will the tour not start on my phone?

The basic guided tour is disabled in the mobile console. Use the desktop console for that tour.

Why is the panel empty or still loading?

The panel needs its separate content service to respond. Close and reopen it. If it continues to fail, ask Powerfront to check the help service.
